Our Senior Team

Rodney Longhurst – Chairman and Owner

Rodney and his family have a well-established history and passion for boating, and are long-term owners of various Riviera vessels.

Rodney is a qualified joiner and builder by trade, commencing his business career on the Gold Coast in 1980, assisting with the development of the Dreamworld theme park. Rodney then went on to build and develop luxury houses, and has since been involved with a number of other property developments.

Between 1991 and 2008, Rodney combined his experience in the property industry with an opportunity in the tourism and leisure sectors, through the ownership of a number of Queensland accommodation businesses, located in some of Australia’s favourite tourist destinations. As Managing Director of this enterprise, Rodney was able to use this opportunity to create a highly motivated workforce, dedicated to excellence in customer service. From the mid 1990s onwards, he also assisted with the management of the Longhurst investment in the large Hyperdome shopping centre in Brisbane’s south.

In 2000, Rodney teamed up with his long-term friend Wes Moxey to develop a 9.3 hectare site, just down the road from the current Riviera factory in Coomera, as a service yard for use by the marine industry.

In March 2012, Rodney acquired the Riviera business outright, thereby taking advantage of the opportunity to mix his business skills in the marine and property industries with his passion for boating, quality, creativity and the pursuit of excellence. This also presented another opportunity to work alongside his trusted business partner Wes Moxey.

Wesley Moxey – Chief Executive Officer

Wes Moxey’s history with Riviera dates back to the company’s formative years in Labrador, which is 15 kilometres south of the current Riviera Coomera manufacturing facility, and the launch of the Riviera 30. Wes joined Riviera in 1982 as a shipwright, just two years after the company was founded in 1980. He was later promoted to Production Manager in 1987 and then Managing Director in 1998. His extensive marine experience and boat building knowledge fuelled his rise to the challenge of CEO in 2000 where he oversaw the move to the company’s 14-hectare state-of-the-art Coomera facility. In 2008 he took a three-year sabbatical from Riviera during which time he developed the Belize Motoryacht line. Wes returned to the Riviera helm in 2012 and under his leadership and guidance, the company is moving forward and gaining further strength and momentum with a dedicated investment into new model development.

Richard Appleby – Chief Financial Officer/Chief Operating Officer

Richard began his career with KPMG in England in 1991 upon graduating from Liverpool University with a Bachelor of Electronic Engineering with Honours. He spent the next four years working towards becoming a Chartered Accountant, which he achieved in 1995. During his career, Richard worked with highly regarded companies such as Coopers & Lybrand, The Royal Yacht Group, Compaq Computer Australia and Millers Self Storage, before joining Riviera in 2006 as Chief Financial Officer. He left Riviera in 2008 to pursue other interests and worked with a diverse range of multi-national and privately held companies in the wholesale, retail, hospitality, technology and manufacturing sectors, before returning to Riviera in late 2012. Richard is proud to be part of the Riviera team who all share a common goal – to create the ultimate boating experience.

Chris McCafferty – Region International Sales Director

Chris McCafferty began his marine career in the waterskiing industry, representing the UK at international level and winning numerous national championships before opening his own waterskiing club, which he successfully managed for 10 years. In 2000 he opened his own boat dealership with his father, and together they represented Tige Boats throughout Europe, winning esteemed international sales awards. In 2002 he joined Tige’s production team in Texas where he learnt how to build boats and was quickly appointed Quality Control Manager and then National Sales Manager, a position he held from 2002-2005, when he joined Riviera as National Sales Manager for the Americas. By 2009, Chris was promoted to Director of Riviera Yachts, heading up the Americas team, and this role quickly grew to include Europe, Asia and the Middle East (EAME). In 2012 Chris was formally appointed International Sales Director, responsible for Riviera’s growing global operations. Based at Riviera’s Americas headquarters in Stuart, Florida, Chris is the first point of contact and support for Riviera’s expanding global dealer network, which spans some 60 countries.

He founded his own advertising and marketing services company in 1987, listing the marine industry’s biggest brands as clients, amongst many major multi-national brands. Over an 18 year period, Milne and Partners Advertising received many national and international awards for their creative work. In 1997, Stephen began consulting with Riviera in brand development and producing the company’s advertising and marketing materials. In 2004, Stephen joined Riviera as Director, Brand and Communications, running BrandCom, the internal marketing services department of the company that supports the Riviera and Belize dealer network that now spans more than 60 countries.

Chris Attard – Owner and Dealer Care Director

Chris Attard capped off his first year in the workforce as Queensland Apprentice of the Year, a highly coveted acknowledgement of his exceptional skills and potential as a mechanic, and he repeated this achievement in his third year. Pursuing a passion for luxury vehicles, he found himself specialising in high-end European marques including Mercedes Benz, BMW, Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Ferrari, Lamborghini and Bugatti, leading to stints with V8 super-car, off-road buggy and boat-racing teams. Chris is also an accomplished jet ski-racing competitor and achieved Queensland and Australian titles under the Kawasaki and Yamaha badges. He joined the Riviera team in 1995, beginning in engineering where his attention to detail saw him progress to pre-delivery and sea trials. In 2003 Chris was appointed Riviera engineering manager, and in 2012 he was promoted to production manager. Involved in the development of almost 50 new Riviera models and having been instrumental in developing the stringent Riviera quality control procedures, Chris’s knowledge encompasses the entire Riviera business, including all areas of warranty, new product development, after-market, spare parts and supply.

Greig Payne – Electrical and Electronics Director

Greig's passion for electrical systems and boating developed well before he completed school so, after secondary school on Queensland's Gold Coast, he undertook a Certificate 2 in electrical engineering and then gained an apprenticeship with Riviera. By the third year of his apprenticeship he was designing electrical systems in Rivieras and quickly moved into the design office. He briefly left the company to gain wider experience, working for marine electrical company BEP and specialising in CZone digital technology. He went on to designed and built the entire electrical system for the new Belize motor yacht brand and rejoined Riviera as Electrical Manager when Belize owner Wesley Moxey returned to head the company. He and his team were responsible for the design, production and service of every electrical system on every motor yacht. In 2016 his role was expanded to include electronics systems.

Kyle Davison – Supply, Planning and Production Director

Kyle is fully responsible for ensuring the best quality components are available exactly when they are needed to build every model and every motor yacht in the Riviera collection. This capacity for hard work, focus and commitment were learned on his parents' 1,200-hectare farm in northern New South Wales. His career with Riviera began with detailing completed motor yachts. A passion for computers and enterprise resource planning systems drew him to the Riviera purchasing department where he worked on implementing just-in-time supply chain structures, helping the company to save both time and resources in production. From there he rose steadily to his current key role.

Dan Henderson – Design and Engineering Director

Dan was destined for the marine industry from birth. He was born in England's historic naval city of Portsmouth. His father was in the merchant navy and his grandfather was a navy gunner. From university he qualified as a mechanical engineer and worked for a number of marine companies before emigrating to Australia. Dan joined Riviera as a mechanical design engineer in early 2004 and now oversees the team that works on detail design of every Riviera model in close co-operation with the Head of Concept Design Stephen Ford. His great enjoyment is in working in an organisation in which every motor yacht is developed from concept and design to the finished product. He is driven by a love for Riviera's motor yachts, for his team, for the variety of work they undertake and for the challenges of constant improvement in every new motor yacht.

Allison Ball – Financial Controller
